FSSAI Registration Renewal FSSAI Registration Renewal

As per the advisory, the extension date for licensing & registration of food businesses by six months, the same does not apply to the food business operators who are doing food business without acquiring any valid license or are not registered under any previous law.

  • The existing FBOs seeking for FSSAI Registration renewal of their licenses shall have to comply with the latest guidelines for registration and the new entrants will have to have acquire license and to gain acceptance of the authorities for the establishment of new food business.

The advisory clearly states that the extension has been given to those who are seeking a conversion/renewal of their existing licenses which were acquired under previous laws/orders.

The six months extension has been allowed to the food business operators who were already registered under the previous laws/orders, which were repealed and consolidated into one act i.e. FSS Act, 2006.

  • A number of queries have been raised by Food Business Operators (FBOs) regarding applications for the FSSAI registration renewal of the licence under FPO/PFA/MMPO/MFPO or any other Order which have been repealed after the enactment of the FSS Act and applied for renewal well in time but were under processing with the concerned officials in the Centre as well as state governments.

The Authority informed that these licenses were being treated as new applicants. The matter had been examined and it had been decided that all such cases, where the FBO had applied for renewal of licence within a time limit and delay for issuance of licence could not be attributed to the FBO but to the time taken in processing the application by concerned licensing officer, may be considered under the category of FSSAI registration renewal of licence. However, the fee & documents, if any, would be taken as per the requirement for each case.
